And just like that, it’s December.

In a lot of ways, we feel like this year has flown by but equally it’s been a very full-on year culturally + globally.

Rihanna had a baby, Kendrick released some of his best music yet, The Queen of England died, the world has been at war, we met Tracee Ellis Ross, John Boyega said what he said about black women, Halle became our little mermaid, the UK Prime Minister lasted 45 days, GUAP hosted their first ever gala at the Natural History Museum, Renaissance – enough said, MOBO celebrated 25 years and of course, we opened the doors to our first ever Birmingham TreasureTress store!

As full on as the year has been, you know when your TreasureTress box arrives, it’s the reminder to slow down and take time for you. To close out the year, we wanted to remind you of a brand that uses science to get results honey. A brand with legacy and impact, and is also black-owned. Our final box of the year is a takeover by none other than – Design Essentials.

 

 

Almond and Avocado Moisturising & Detangling Sulphate-free Shampoo Sachet

And so it begins, this Almond and Avocado Sulphate free shampoo provides a gentle clean without stripping the hair of its naturally oils. It lathers well and despite this product being a sachet, there’s a few wash days to be had with this one.

Almond & Avocado Nourishing Co-Wash

Now this one is where the fun begins. For those who are new to the co-wash process, it’s the hybrid between shampooing and conditioning, as it gives your hair the cleanse of a shampoo with the moisture of a conditioner. It’s a lightweight formula but quickly buildable for those whose tresses need some extra TLC.

 

 

 

Almond & Avocado Leave-In Conditioner

The primer of hair care. Another lightweight product with glides through the hair and detangles while doing. This leave-in can be used on wet or dry hair and for maximum hydration, put a shower cap on/cling film around your hair for 15 minutes to give it a light steam. You’ll find that your tresses are smooth and ready for styling.

 

 

Daily Moisturising Lotion

With this product, it’s all in the name. Like face cream, apply this daily. This lotion is a slightly thicker consistency so great to locking in moisture and keeping flyaways at bay. It’s also a great product for style prep which we’ll get into..

 

 

Curling Crème

Healthy and defined curls await you with this product. This curling crème has the movement of a gel and the weight of a crème – a perfect combo. A solid product for braid outs and twist outs and for extra lift and definition – defuse.

 

 

 

Skin and Scalp Detoxifying Tonic

This is a new product as part of the Design Essentials catalogue and it’s an innovative one. A product created for 2 sensitive parts of the body – skin and scalp. Lead ingredients are Eucaplytus and Lemon for freshness and also infused with Peppermint and Witch Hazel, ingredients widely known for their cleansing properties. When using on the skin, we always advise doing a patch test, apply some of the tonic to a cotton pad and rub behind the ear, if after 24 hours you’ve not had any irritation, you can use this as a toner as part of your skin care regime.

For the hair, call this the new curly girl dry shampoo – this tonic removes dirt and cleanses the scalp all without water.
